Another Denier Lie Exposed

One of the new statements making the rounds among deniers is that no one is saying man made global warming doesn't exist. In fact, I get statements saying that no one has ever said that. I am not kidding. Then, they get upset when I call them deniers.

Well, let's put the record straight. Here is one denier that says it straight up. Unfortunately, he is also in Congress. Please note how the fossil fuel industry is his biggest contributor. Do you think there is a link?

Where are all of the people making that claim now? Any comments from the contrarians, deniers or denier industry?

  1. Let's drive a stake through the heart of the myth that medical doctors are scientists while we're at it.

  2. I agree with that, but he at least has a BS in Biology. It doesn't qualify him as climate scientists, but he is at least a science major. The problem I have is coming up with a good definition for being a scientists. I think the most common is to have a Ph.D. in the natural sciences (some sources include economics). But what about people that are accomplished in science research and don't have one? Do we say they aren't scientists just because they don't have a doctorate?

  3. I suppose I don't have a problem with calling someone with a B.S. or M.S. who performs scientific research a scientist. But the cleaner definition is surely someone who not only has a PhD, but who is actively working in the field. The people with bachelors degrees are really assistants, to my way of thinking.

  4. What people have said in the past will be on the internet for a long time, assessable using a quick search :-)

A number (very few) climate scientists do use the "anthropogenic global warming is happening, but..." argument. I notice they tend to then use pejoratives such as "a bit of warming", "mild warming", "slight warming", "just 1C of warming" etc.

It's the next phase of the AGW denier campaign, we will have to expect it.
